10 Fun Gadgets for Your Home Office PDF Print E-mail
Working from home is great, you can get up when you want, the only commute to your desk is a short walk from your bed, and your boss isn't breathing coffee in your face every five minutes. Of course, if you're working at home, you're free to decorate your desk with as many entertaining gadgets as you can lay your hands on to make up for being on your own. Be careful of getting too many USB gadgets though, because you still need to fit in some time for work...

Nabaztag- The Wi-Fi Rabbit
The latest and possibly, most bizarre gadget from the states, Nabaztag is a Wi-Fi enabled plastic rabbit that can go anywhere you do, and keep you up to date with the latest news, weather, stock market prices and even read your emails to you. Amazingly cute and impossibly clever, this virtual assistant is the perfect way of keeping in touch with your desk when you need to pop to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee.

USB Massager
If working from home is leaving you feeling stressed out, you can now get relief from a massage pad that plugs straight into your USB port and promises to de-stress you in minutes, thanks to its high speed 1800RPM motor, and a 2 metre long cable that means it can get to the parts other vibrating devices can't.

USB Hamster Wheel
Watching this furry little rodent happily running around in his wheel, it is easy to get philosophical about how the hamster in a wheel is a metaphor for modern life, but don't bother, it's cute, its funny, and the less you worry about the stresses of the rat race the better quite frankly.

Panic Button
Although it doesn't actually do anything, there is something deeply reassuring about having a big red button marked "PANIC" attached to your computer. If things are getting particularly tricky, you can always stick them in other places too, in case of emergencies...

USB Fan
There are loads of different versions of this classic gadget available. Guaranteed to keep you cool when you're working your fingers to the bone, just plug one in and enjoy a cooling breeze over all your hard work.

Street Mouse
These have been around for a few years now, and they're still great fun, a full featured mouse shaped like a car. The latest versions look like a TVR, and make revving noises when you move them around. The only drawback is that being optical; they're no use for picking up fluff from all over your desk.

Dead Fred Pan Holder
Although this voodoo inspired desktop decoration doesn't actually do anything useful, just having it there to stab your pen into after a particularly annoying phone call is a relief in itself. Especially if the person you were speaking to doesn't react well to being told the truth.

Verballs Skype Creatures
If chatting to people over the phone is making you feel lonely, and in need of some real company, Verballs Skype Creatures are the next best thing. Using some bizarre internet witchcraft they pick up the signals from your phone conversation, and move their mouths in time with the words of the person you're talking to. Freaky at first, but after a while, these hairy little weirdoes become reassuring.

USB Plasma Ball
If you want to feel as though you have the forces of nature at your fingers as you work, plug one of these USB plasma balls into your PC, and watch in awe as lighting crackles around the inside of it. Oddly addictive, you'll probably spend more time pretending to see the future in your ball than working, but as long as no-one walks in, you should be OK.

TARDIS USB Hub
With all these extra gadgets cluttering up your desk and taking up all the USB ports on your PC, you're going to need a few extra sockets to plug them into. Sadly this TARDIS look-alike doesn't come with infinite space to stash your toys in when playtime, er, work is finished, but it does make a classic noise and light up for no apparent reason every now and then.
